Awareness Week(14th-18th nov) on Hallmarking of gold

The (BIS) Bureau of Indian Standards is organizing an Awareness Week on Hallmarking during 14th-18th November 2011 under the supervision of its Eastern Regional Office covering the states of Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and all the seven North Eastern states. This celebration will help to spread the benefits of BIS Hallmarking Scheme to the consumers, jewellers & artisans.

This events surely help in raising awareness among the Jewelers about the benefits of being a BIS Hallmark licensee.The consumers also become aware to buy BIS Hallmarked jewelery in order to prevent their exploitation.
This will train the artisans on how to make jewelery that would avoid irregular metal quality and under-caratage.
