Why you should avoid MLM schemes?
MLM schemes or Multi-Level Marketing or Pyramid schemes are rampant in our state. Since my childhood I have been a mute evidence to many such schemes, starting from the one which came while I was still in my primary school in which people were distributed free torch lights, umbrellas, steel plates etc. in my village by paying some money. I did not know the basics of the schemes then though.
Over the ages I have grown and come to know that In deed there is something called MLM and that people talk very high about them and believe me or not I have been a victim of MLM too. And not once but I have been attacked (Ishould not be using the word.) many a times by these high flyer MLMers who have time and again come up with new and innovative ideas (there is nothing new in them although, only the service or product is different).
Why I hate MLM is because of five facts :
1. Gain at the cost of Personal relations
2. Feel of guilty at the end of the day
3. Market saturation one day
4. Morality and Ethics
5. Less Business more Talking
Now let us discuss about each of them :
Gain at the cost of Personal relations
When you join any MLM, you are under stress to promote it as soon as posible to make some quick bucks and most of us join these schemes to make money only. And in this endeavour we forget about our personal and professional life. I have seen people running behind people in such a manner that people usually try to avoid meeting them.
The Hardcore MLMers are usually a clan of people who are either hated and or avoided by many people in real world. What satisfaction has got to do in your life if you can not be a part of gathering of near and dear ones. In a public meeting people try to avoid you thinking that you may force them to join some MLM scheme. In a society like India where everything is attached to human emotions, this could be a good reason why people do not like to be contacted for joining any scheme.
I personally know a handful of people who are very much with me but I try to avoid them as much as I can, because they are highly contagious. Sorry to use these words, but being a doctor I know this is true. And many of you would also agree to it. Would you like to be one like them? If yes then you can be a MLMer else be a gentleman like me and you.
I think more than money I value human relations and I would rather be a happy man with a hundred friends than a rich man with no friends. So decide who you want to be.
Second Point : Feel guilty at the end of the day.
You know it well that there is a end to everything and one day the same MLM scheme or chain that you are promoting will also come to an end. And then what will happen to those hundreds and or thousands of people who would be standing at the bottom of the pyramid waiting to do selling to gain money? Look at them carefully are they not your own brothers and sisters?
