Debasis has got his third GM norms on July 27. He had achieved his first GM norm in the World Junior Chess Championship at Athens in August 2012 and the second in the 15th Dubai Open Ches Championship at Dubai in April 2013. He says,"I am need of only six Elo points to be the first Grand Master of the State, which I will achieve in my next tournament”.

Now there is a demand of the game "Chess" among the school students and the coach for this game are readily available. The coaching fees for this game is around Rs.300.00 to Rs.350.00 per month in small towns. They teach this game on every Saturday and Sunday.
