Lunar Eclipse and "Paka Tyaga" in Orissa

All of us must have seen people doing fasting and not cooking for the whole day in the name of Lunar eclipse or Solar eclipse. Do only Odias follow this tradition? I don't see any reason why you should not cook food whole day for a lunar eclipse that may happen sometime in the evening.
