ORISSA NAME CHANGED TO ODISHA, ORIYA TO ODIA

Hello,
From today onwards Orissa is Odisha and Oriya is Odia.
The bill passed in Loksabha today by Hime Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram.

This will take more time for completion. Bill will need to be passed in Rajyasabha and then needs President's approval. Then only the centre will announce the name change formally.

Already 2 years in this process. let's see when the formal declaration happens

Seems the bill was passed in Rajyasabha and was sent for President's approval recently. But it was returned without approval as there was mismatch between dates.

The mismatch was due to the fact that the bill was supposed to be introduced in Monsoon session; but was delayed till the Winter session.

Hope it gets cleared soon.
