Elephants on the move, worry for Orissa

More than 50 elephants has arrived in the Nilgiri area of Orissa’s Balasore district.
The elephants are believed to have made the journey from neighbouring West Bengal.
The elephants have trampled crops in the area and damaged some houses.
The Forest Department had a tough time chasing the elephants back into forests because large crowds blocked the routes.
The man-elephant conflict has been worrying forest and wildlife officials in Orissa.

“Now we have a major plan for elephant corridors that will drastically reduce the man-elephant conflict,” says Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
