IFAD programme launched at Bhubaneswar.
The second phase of the Orissa Tribal Empowerment Livelihoods Programme of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) was launched at BBSR. IFAD is an international financial institution and a United Nations specialised agency, which works to eradicate poverty and hunger in rural areas of developing countries. This programme will be implemented first in Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Gajapati districts. The districts of Nawrangpur, Rayagada and Malkangiri will be covered in the second phase.
With the help of this project the rural people of those areas will try to develop by improving their access to natural resources, financial services and markets and opportunities for non-farm enterprises.
