Budget of Rs 60,303-crore in 2013 by govt. of Odisha
The govt. of Odisha announced the budget of Rs 60,303-crore including free mobile handsets, health insurance to farmers, pre-paid SIM cards to fishermen, blanket to aged and financial help to women self-help groups and youth. First time the govt declared Rs 7,161.84-crore separate agriculture budget. They are saying that there is no new tax proposal in budget 2013-14. Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya said the government has proposed to amend the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 in order to generate more revenue from the mineral sector. Starting a new programme, Biju Youth Empowerment Yojana, the odisha government has provided Rs 3 crore to give a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to at least 5,000 youths in each district and sub-divisional headquarters. Rs 2 crore has been earmarked to provide free mobile phones to at least 20,000 farmers under Digital Mandi Yojana.
