Do electric companies or phone company charge you more when you set up the automatic payment?

Is it safe to automatically pay bills from one's account directly?

It is safe as long as the billing is correct. But if there is wrong bill due to some mistake at there side, you will lose money.
Especially in Orissa the phone connections are from bsnl and they are the biggest thieves you can find anywhere. Once they take excess money from you, there is no way to get it back. Beware!!
