Re: HAPPY BISHUBA SANKRANTI TO ALL ORIYAS
Hello to all of you,
Have you know "What is BISHUBA SANKRANTI"?It is oterwise known as "PANA SANKRANTI".
Bishuba Sankranti- This is considered as the first day of the year and counting of days starts from this day. This day is accepted as a sacred day by the Oriyas.
The solar year is counted according to the movements of sun,(lunar year is counted according to the movements of moon ).As India is situated on the north side of equatorial line, when the sun rests on Aries and starts moving towards the northern hemisphere after that the summer season starts. So the very day on which the sun reaches on the Aries is called as the Bisuba Sankranti. Lord sun and lord Shiva are worshiped on this day. We ORIYAS offer them a mixture of Cheese, Banana, Raw Sugar(guda) and wet rice,Aegle(bela) etc.. That is called as Panaa. So on this day we all love to drink Panaa. From that day An earthen pot is hanged poured with water over the Tulsi Plant . It helps the plant to survive in summer. Jhamu Yatra is also celebrated on that day.
