Dhabaleswar Osha/Bada osha & Kartika Purnima 2011 are going to be celebrated on 9th & 10th of Nov.
Dhabaleshwara Osha/Badaosha- The Dhabaleswar temple is located in Cuttack District. On that day people worship him on the name of Dhabaleswar(He is lord Shiva). On the morning of that day people offer him milk in a huge amount. On the evening they worship him with many cakes and sweets(specially a sweet item made from rice & molasses named as khirisa or bhandara). Gaja manda is another special bhog given to lord shiva and distributed to the pilgrims in this day at Dhabaleswar temple.
Karttika Purnima- It is the last day of the month of karttika and the Panchuka celebrations. On this day from very morning the Oriyas sail paper boats or boats prepared from the trunk of banana tree. Then they go to the temples of lord Shiva. The cause of sailing paper boat is nothing other than remembering the glorious past of Orissa.
