From today the Banajaga Jatra started in search of Daru for Nabakalebar. Puri Gajapati gives approval for Banajaga Jatra. The Banajaga team( total 130 members) comprises of 96 young and senior Daitapatis, 16 Swotriya Brahmins, 14 Biswakarmas, two Rajgurus, and two temple purohits, besides other support staff and Government officials. The jatra has started from palace of Puri King). Here ‘Guateka’ ritual completed.
On the Sunday evening, the team reached the Jagannath Ballav mutt and take rest there for the night, while on Tuesday midnight, the team would walk to the Kakatpur Maa Mangala temple through Puri-Konark marine drive road.

Lord Balabhadra Daru was identified at Jhankada, Jagatsinghpur.
Thousands of people rushed to Sarala Pitha Jhankada village under Tirtol block in Jagatsinghpur district on Friday morning soon after Shree Jagannath Temple Administration [SJTA] chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra who made official announcement at the spot that basing on Banajaga team suggestions Lord Balabhadra Daru was identified at Jhankada.
