Now daily flight service will be available from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar and Kolkata from the month of January, 2018. Air Odisha will offer flight connectivity to Bhubaneswar while Air Deccan will provide services to Kolkata from Rourkela. This flight services will be launched under ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik’ (UDAN) scheme .

Nice... Daily flight operations with small 18-seater aircrafts from Jeypore airstrip is going to start from March 2018. It seems that air communication in Odisha is improving.

The regional connectivity from Kolkata to Rourkela will start from 23th January 2018. Odisha government have trained 135 police and 27 fire personnel for providing security and fire services in the regional airports. Five airstrips of Odisha, namely Biju Patnaik International Airport, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Utkela (Kalahandi) and Jeypore (Koraput)have been selected for Phase-I of Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN.
