Free treatment to the BPL patients in Private hospitals of Bhubaneswar, Odisha

The Government of Odisha has instructed private hospitals to provide free treatment for BPL patients. The State Health and Family Welfare Dept has issued a notification about this according to the direction of Supreme Court. Now all the private hospitals and nursing homes( which have been allotted Govt lands at subsidised rates) will submit monthly reports about free treatment for 25% OPD( outpatients department ) and 10% indoor capacity to BPL patients.
There are some good private hospitals of our capital city Bhubaneswar which will come in this category are KIMSMCH, SUM Hospital, Apollo Hospitals, Kalinga Hospital, Eye Research Institute at Chandrasekharpur, Care Hospital Pvt Ltd, AMRI Hospital etc.

One case of non-compliance to the norms by hospitals in Odisha was taken up with the Orissa High Court. Acting on a PIL filed, the court has directed the State Govt to file an action taken report within the 1st week of August. The petitioner complained that private hospitals were violating the apex court order. They were refusing to admit the poor patients.
