Chief Minister, Mr. Naveen Patnaik started the Re 1 a kg rice scheme for the poor in Odisha from the Malkangiri district on Saturday. It would provide rice at Re 1 per kg to people living below poverty line (BPL) as well as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, disabled and beneficiaries of the Antyodaya schepeople.The APLS in the backward KBK districts will also be provided rice at the rate.

All the BPL families were getting rice in the rate of Rs2.00/k.g. It was too much chip. If they will buy rice from market, they will've to pay 15-20 rupees. Why did the govt start this plan?

The cheap rice scheme of Odisha govt. will turn the poor( mainly the hard working labourers) to be lazy and idle. It will put strong effect on the field of cultivation. It has been seen from years that the labourers who work in the field of cultivation are not willing to do those works.
