Importance of holi

Post by Rohith Behera »

Holi is the celebration of victory of good over evil. It is said that it was the day when Holika was burnt into ashes while trying to kill 'Prahlad' (who was devotee of lord Vishnu), with her fire.

People do 'Holika dahan', a bonfire set for the remembrance of Holika's death, end of evil. Then they start the celebration of holi by applying colors to each other.

People in Vrindavan celebrate it at its best as it is the place where lord Krishna used to live. It is believed that he used to celebrate holi with colors with his friends.

Holi is also beginning of spring season. It is usually celebrated for two days and in few regions three days.

Happy holi everyone. . Use natural colors which are skin friendly. Do not hurt others' feelings, do ask their permission before coloring them.

Many many warm wishes for Dola purnima & Holi. All these festivals should be celebrated in a friendly, peaceful atmosphere. Dusshera, Deewali/ Deepavali and Holi are the three main hindu festivals which are celebrated all over in our country. This festival holi and dola melana are very enjoyable in villages. Celebrate this festival with a great joy. Play with others using natural colours which are skin friendly. Please do not make any violence in this occasion.
