1. I expresse grave concern over the hired goons of BJD and the hired goons of TATA led by company officials, who tried to enter the project area at Kalinganagar this morning. Later armed police also tried to enter the project site but retreated on facing stiff resistance from the people.
2. I condemn the Naveen Patnaik government for abetting the TATAs in letting loose a reign of violence against the Kalainganagar people who are resisting forcible acquisition of land. The tense situation is continuing. Barely three months earlier, the Orissa government backed by TATA goons killed an activist of Bistaphan Birodhi Janmanch - Sukinda in order to terrorise the people
I demand:
1. Immediate withdrawal of armed police.
2. Immediate arrest of goons and TATA company officials who entered the disputed site.

Because I have been there - so many times and seen these repeated happenings.
As of now the middle classes have pushed their lot behind the rich and especially the corporates and industrialists- thinking that
within the framework of this so called "development" they will at least get a few big crumbs thrown into their begging bowls. But they are so so so wrong and mistaken, in the coming years the rich are only going to get richer and to merely survive, even people from the middle class will have to sell the little bits of their soul which is left.
The fact that amazes me is your incredulous reaction- "if it is true" "what proof do you have" it just goes to show how far removed we from reality and how much we distrust those who stand on the side of the poor- but are completely blind and distrustful of the tribal and poor people. Just travel around in India- rural to urban and see the millions and millions of poor deprived people and our political masters will always white wash the truth that - there have always been poor in India. this is absolute bogus, barely a few hundred years ago during the period of Akbar- Jehangir- Aurangzeb, the Mughal empire was the richest in the world. yes in the World and we contributed an estimated 17% of the world GDP!! then the British came and started exploiting our country and in 1857 those who fought FOR the British- The Scindas, Maharajas of Patiala, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Gaekwad, Baroda, etc etc and those contractors, princely rulers all of those who brutally suppressed and killed about 10 million Indians are now ruling our country. In 1857 their families sided with the British and sold us out and today these same families are ruling us and selling our mines, ores, creating SEZs, ruining our agriculture and the middle class asks "Do you have any proof?" What proof do you need to know that we need a balance between industrialisation and that this kind of ruthless exploitation of our resources just so that cheaper mining leases can be provided to the developed nations - just so that once again we have to become colonial slaves this time as economic slaves!
Agriculture is the single best way for sustainable livelihood for millions of people- post industrialisation ALL COUNTRIES HAVE
UNEMPLOYMENT - a fact unknown to agriculture economies and this is not to say that we should not industrialise- but what a joke that the very people we industrialise for are the very people who cannot buy these manufactured goods- solely because we have not made agriculture sustainable for a large majority of the people and they remain poor and unable to boost domestic development of industry because they are unable to purchase goods.
Dont forget that TATANAGAR was built on the blood of BIRSA MUNDA who fought heroic battles against the British and that Rattan Tata's grandfather- the founder of TATANAGAR was a DRUG DEALER (yes he supplied opium to the British for the Opium wars in China) and was requested to come to Jharkhand after the British crushed one of India's greatest patriots! So when Manmohan Singh went to Tatanagar to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Tatanagar, he was actually celebrating the 150th year of the defeat of a heroic warrior who gave his life fighting the British!! But is true that drugs is the still the easiest way to make money.
