Pressure cooking rice is very easy and all working Oriyas generally do it.
First clean the rice grains with water.
Cooking rice in pressure cooker needs less water as very little moisture escapes. Put a cup-full of water in the cooker.
Put the rice in a container(or separator) inside the cooker and add some half-cup water ito the container.
Timing is important. After putting the cooker on flame, wait till the steam escapes steadily from the nozzle. Place the weight.
Within 4-5 minutes the hissing steam lifts the weight to make a steady sizzle, reduce the flame to the minimum. After two minutes switch off and allow the pressure cooker to cool off. In about 10 minutes the steam settles, check this by slightly touching off the weight. If there is no steam left, remove the weight, open the lid and your rice is fine and ready.
