A Tale of Consumer Tailspin in ROURKELA [Computer Dealer]

Post by saum »

Beware of a certain Computer dealers in Rkl.Names cannot be taken in public. All I can say is they deal in Old town market area. These people mostly have NIT students as their means of existence.

If u are not careful while dealing with them they will hoodwink u easily and take more than enough for themselves handing u old parts. One of the dealers was trying to sell me a MX-4000 graphics card for Rs.4000
when it used to cost only Rs.2200 or so.One of my friends saved the day.
So before buying any component
1.Search for the prices everywhere including e-bay and other consumer sites.
2.Always check for seal.
3.Don't forget to get a receipt and warranty card.

I am writing this because I learnt it the hard way.

Frauds at Digital Infotech, Old market, Rourkela

Post by Deep »

We had a similar incident at Digital Infotech, old market, RKL. Their
another nameplate shows Digital Infosys.

Anyway I went there for a pack of 100 blank CDs. I got a packet of
"Frontech"(a re-knowned brand) CDs at almost 80% of the normal market
price. I was in doubt. A friend who had a bitter experience (he bought
pack of 100 at kolkata, came RKL and opened it. All were previously
recorded, damaged copies of a certain spiritual program) was also with me.

He asked, "Are you sure this pack does not contain the Bhajan CDs?"
Dealer: No.
We: So you say all would come out good ones?
Dealer: Ya, but may b one or 2 damaged. That happens with all brands.

Then we came home. And you know what! All except the two covering the
pack were already used, damaged CDs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

We went to the store, asked politely to replace. He told, you have
opened the pack, now no warranty.(Then how to check without opening!!)
Finally the crude way. We told we were from NITR (their Dana Paani) and
would put banners and notices regarding this. "You will be
black-listed!"

And we got a replacement! (ofcourse paid little more to get another
reliable pack with warranty)
