Ragging in Padmanava college of Engineering, Rourkela

Serious Ragging is going on in the college named
'Padmanava College of Engineering, Rourkela'which is situated at Sector-4 in Rourkela is the worst of all the engineering colleges in Orissa.
Following are the points which shows the actual ugly picture of this college.

1) If you are taking new admission, then the college principal will go on leave for 1 month so that Registrar takes all the controls of taking admissions and the Registrar will beg for donation from each of the Student's parents in multiples of thousands rupees like 10K,20K,30K etc.

2) And If you have got admitted through OPECA, then you are sure to be screwed by this college administration. The Registrar will force you to take a fresh admission under management quota in college (by saying that they are not gonna admit any students admitted through OPECA), so that they can get donations. Recently this has happened with 2006 batch of students.

3) Apart from this you will be forced to by a new laptop from college (which will surely cost you more(around 15K more), even though you need it or not.

4) While taking admission you and your father will be asked to sign a
undertaking form (which is actually xerox of a type letter) which says that you have to pay the amount of fees which the college decides. There is one more point to note that, if by some how you want to leave that college (suppose you get admission in better college or want to reappear for AIEEE again after seeing severe ragging in college or anything else), then college will ask you to pay the fees for remaining years also (even though there is no rule in any of the Universities like this), otherwise your College Leaving Certificate (CLC) will not be released. Also to prove this, college admin is saying that Its the rule made by private colleges and this rule is abided by the universities, but when asked they refuse to give it in writing (if asked).

5) There is no control of College authorities over the senior students and ragging. Ragging is at the top level in this college. Raggers picks up the juniors even from their class-rooms for ragging. In the hostels, it is worse than college. The hostel superintendant is also indulged with the senior students.

Senior have also set-up some 15 rules for juniors to follow

a) Juniors should always keeps staring at the 3rd button on the shirt. The buttons should be tighened upto neck.
If some junior forgets to do this, senior girls will slap them in front of all college students.

b) If some senior comes infront of juniors, then junior students should bend upto 90 degrees to salute the seniors.

c) Juniors should remove their hair, mustache and maintain their face clean with shave and without hair on head.

d) Juniors should always wear formal shirt-pants, shoes and keep on wearing them till the midnight
(sometimes even upto 2 am). The shoes should have lace with white socks.

e) Juniors should always go in queue for the lunch / dinner.

f) Junior should also write college assignment of Senior.

g) Junior should drink liquor and smoke cigerrate when seniors asks them to do otherwise junior will be severely punished.

h) Junior shouldn't go to TV rooms. Juniors should be in proper Uniform while meeting seniors.

i) Junior shouldn't go to Canteen.

j) Juninor shouldn't keep Radio, Music System where as seniors do have these in their rooms.

These are some of the points of the rules. Each of the junior's hostel room has these rules pasted on their room's wall (in Wing-B of Boys hostel).

There is only one hostel each for boys and girls i.e. no separate hostel for Freshers.

Even though, the Uniform has been inforced by the college for all the students, none of the senior students seemed to be wearing the Uniform in the college.

Many of the Senior students drink alcohols along with Hostel Superintendent in a room (of senior students) in A-Wing. Thats why, even if some junior complains about the ragging to Hostel Superintendant, he is still beaten by the seniors because Hostel superintendant tells everything to Senior Students.

And if you go to college admin, then they will not do anything because If they punish any senior student, then senior students will go on indefinit strike and force the college to close for atleast 1-2 weeks.

There are many many more things to say, but this seems to be enough for you to know and take preventive action. So If you are going to take admission in engineering, then don't join this college otherwise you and your parents will be screwed severely.

So please be informed and stay away from this college and inform all of others also and suggest them not to take admission in this college even if they are unable to get admissions in other colleges.

this is a bulshit stuff....there is no ragging in the college now...I m sayin this as i was once a student of this college...there is of course a interaction between seniors and juniors....and it is really funny....

about the administration i say it is not the best...

the one who has posted the comment must not know ny thin about ragging in this college....or is bluffung...I do admit rules r thre but it is not like what is mentioned here...

he should ask the juniors how they r given the freshers party...

then he should write...

it is complete bull shit....

Everything written here is correct, because my brother have faced all these, and left the college after getting threat from professors that he won't be getting proper marks in the assignments and tests.

He had appeared again in AIEEE-2007 to get admission in some other college.

And about the administration of this college, whole college staff is hidding these facts from outsite College otherwise this college must have been banned by AICTE. Also administration has no control on senior students. Senior don't even bother to wear the uniform which has applied by college.

Whenever they want, they goes on strike preventing the college from Running classes (even also if any one of their classmate fails in the exams because of not studying properly).

What to say now, you know very well.

After all you are the student of this college. Whether you want to hide this or not but its true.

This matter can be brought to light of oriya students via newspaper and orissa specific channels like OTV..but press n television don't enjoy real right to freedom...so i request some of the bloggers from orissa who have a orissa blog may post this in.....bloggers have all type of freedom...

All's fake........this is surely sum guy who has failed and left the college.....and n return is jotting down fake points.....and let me put a point...u paid a donation to cum into the college cause u din deserve to get a direct seat...so it proves how much interest u hav in studies and other college activities....more over i feel a sensible engineering student knows how to behave and act upon situations....but u seem to hav sum mental problem.....I wud lyk to request the moderator to remove such blasphemis and padmanava for ur kind info ma frend is 1 of d most respected colleges in orissa....drawing the best talent...providin ample campus oppurtunities and a very studious environment.....but am sure u r 1 of those brainless who might have failed and got urself a year back so dont cry kiddo....i understand...stupid ppl lyk u act this way...so know get ur acts right....work hard and study well to pass... rather than accusing others for ur own failures....

hello luvguru, DIPSS, go_for_it

for your kind information my brother was a fresher and had taken admission in this Rotten college through OPECA - CET 2006. In all total 64 students had taken admission in this rotten college.

But when the students approached the College DESK at admission center in Cuttack, no college representative was present there. My brother was one of those.

College administration straightway refused to admit students from OPECA, just because administration wanted to fill Management Quota seats for getting money. As the parent's of students and students themselves had no option (because all of them had paid the Couselling fee of 16000/- at Cuttack). they had to bargain with the administration.

One of the administration person was Mr. S. S. Das, who gave the following reason to Parent's of Students admitted through OPECA as "Please look at the college bldg. It needs repair. So please donate some 10,20 or 30 K..........just for the college betterment."

Actually the administration was begging for money like a Bhikhari at the time of admission. Also administration has asked students and their parents on paper which clearly stated that they will not ask for the money refunded from OPECA-CET as they were forced to take the admission under Management quota thus cancelling their OPECA-CET admission.

This was the case before admission.

After admission, things were more worse. Some of the Senior Students from outstation, who were indulged into ragging, started ragging (introduction in their view) the freshers.

Also please note that My Uncle had paid almost nearly 1 Lack rupees to the college at the time of admission. Don't you understand what would have the mental condition of the Student who leaves the college just because of Ragging and harashment by the Faculties.......even though his dad had paid almost nearly 1 Lack rupees (for which his father had taken Personal Loan from Bank).

No come-on don't try to hide that this College is white colored.......let the others know about the actual picture of this college......

it doesn't mean that if you have been beaten for four times, then others should also be beaten. Get well soon, otherwise peoples like you will get joota chappal from public as well as police also.

well guys i relly have no idea bout college education, but that college registarar thing is really true that jj.das and other guy is really a stinking cunt and demanded me a high fee in management cota, where as i was already selected in opeca, thx now its all closed......!
